CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:

Ballet– A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.  Pink ballet slippers, pink tights, and a black leotard required for all classes Level 1 and higher.

Ballet/Tap Combo – Tot level dance class for ages 3-4 that is usually taken after Tiny Stars.  Students wear tap shoes for the first half of class and ballet slippers the second half.

Pointe– Style incorporating classical steps and ballet technique. Teacher permission required.

Hip Hop - Street style movements with an emphasis on execution, style, creativity, body isolations and control, rhythm, uniformity and musical interpretation.

Jazz – Stylized dance movements and combinations with an emphasis on proper technical execution, extension, control and body placement.

Kindermusik - Music/movement classes for Newborns - age 7. Please go to Kindermusik.com for further details.

Lyrical– A fusion of ballet and jazz, encompassing the use of balance, flexibility and control while utilizing the lyrics or mood of the music.

Pom–Dance style with strong emphasis on synchronization and visual effect, clean/precise motions, and strong motion technique.  Poms will be used at the recital.

Tap- A dance form in which the rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes of a dancer's shoes.  Black tap shoes required for Pre level.  Level 1 and higher will wear tan.

Tiny Stars  – Your child’s first dance class for tots 2 ½- 3 ½ .  Students will learn basic motor skills and dance to their favorite nursery rhymes!

Age Guidelines

Kindermusik - Newborn - Age 7
Tiny Stars - 2 1/2 - 3 1/2
Ballet/Tap Combo - Age 3-4
Pre Level - Ages 4 1/2 - 6
Level 1 - Ages 6-8
Level 2- Ages 9-up
Level 3 - Ages 10 - up
Level 4 - Ages 12 - up
