The Zumba® program fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program that will blow you away.       FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
  • What should I wear to class?
    Comfortable and lightweight athletic clothing. Women should wear a good sports bra! You’ll also want to wear shoes that support aerobic activity, while providing flexibility for lateral movement. Running and walking shoes often have thick, rubber treads and are NOT encouraged. Find the proper shoe for you, this will provide a better workout and decrease your chance of injury. You may want to consider layers as it may be cool at first, but once you start class you will warm up quickly!
  • How Many Calories the Zumba Burn? The Answer May Surprise You
    An average Zumba class can burn from 500 to 1000 calories!   You can of course burn more or less depending on your intensity and fitness level. Your Zumba instructor will work with you to get the maximum results... fast. How's that for different!
  • What should I bring to class?Most importantly, plenty of water! You should also bring a towel, burning 500 to1000 calories in an hour can get pretty sweaty!  Don't forget to bring a party attitude and bring a friend - the more the merrier!
  • Why does Zumba® work? 
    Zumba® is fun...It's the type of exercise you'll want to do everyday and feel good about doing it!
    It's different... You probably never thought you'd be exercising to this type of music.
    It's effective... It is an aerobic workout, which we all know works. But it's more fun, which will make you stick with the program until you get results.
  • What if I don't have any rhythm and know how to dance, I'm worried I'll look silly?
    Don't worry! Zumba®is designed for everyone, no dance or fitness experience necessary.   People of many different ages, body types, backgrounds, dance and fitness levels all come together to have fun and get into fabulous shape with Zumba®.  The movements in our classes are simple, repetitive and easy enough for beginners to follow, yet challenging enough for advanced participants. Trust me, you are not going to look silly or embarrass yourself, because you are not expected to move like anyone but you! If you get stuck on a step, remember to simply keep moving and as long as you are moving you're doing well!  No one will judge or critique your dance moves or fitness skills although you will notice markable improvement with dance skills, rhythm, coordination and endurance after even just a few classes. Repetition is key to success, so attending class regularly will help you in mastering the steps and achieving long lasting results.  The most important things to remember while participating in Zumba®class are to let go, allow yourself to move naturally to the music, keep moving,and have fun!  
  • I AM NOT IN SHAPE. WILL I BE ABLE TO KEEP UP?
    Absolutely! Even though Zumba is a high energy workout, it is easy enough for beginners to catch on to quickly. You can also control how much energy you use by increasing or decreasing your level of intensity. For example, if you feel you are doing too much, you can just do the footwork and then add the arm movements when you are more comfortable. As always, consult with your physician before starting this or any other exercise program.
  • Do you have beginner classes?
    Yes, we will soon offer a ZUMBA GOLD® class which is designed for beginners, older active adults and anyone needing modifications.  In our regular Zumba®  classes we follow the authentic Zumba® format, which allows for a multi-level class. You'll see a mix of ALL dance and fitness levels, from the beginner, intermediate and advanced
    fitness participant to the dance professional.
    Dances which may incorporate more intricate steps are reviewed until all are comfortable.
  • I have issues with my knees, can I still participate? 
    Yes, Unfortunately knee issues are very common, but Zumba®is a low-impact, high-cardio workout, allowing even those with knee issues to safely participate. Safety during any physical activity, is very important, so make sure your doctor supports your participation.  Once given the OK, please inform your instructor of your specific physical limitations.  Whenever possible you'll be shown modifications, but you should know your body.  Most importantly, remember to set and maintain your own pace and if something doesn't feel right, don't do it!
  • Do I need to be a gym member to take your Zumba® classes?                
    No memberships, initiation fees or long term commitments for our Studio Classes! Drop-ins are ALWAYS welcome and class punchcards are also available that offer significant savings.

What is ZUMBA® GOLD?

It is a series of fitness programs specifically designed to take the exciting Latin and International dance and fitness program created in the original ZUMBA® program and bring them to the beginner, active older adult and all participants needing modifications for a successful class.  Created to emphasize the basic steps of ZUMBA®, this explosive program is so easy to follow, that EVERYONE of all ages can do it!  

ZUMBA
 GOLD®  programs are guaranteed to provide ALL participants with a safe and effective total body workout!  ZUMBA GOLD®, just as our regular ZUMBA® classes, creates a party like atmosphere that is incredibly fun, different, easy to follow and effective. Participants in this class enjoy rhythms such as: Merengue, Salsa, Cumbia, Belly Dance, Rumba, Tango, Cha Cha along with other fun an exciting rhythms and dances.

Shake, rattle, and roll—and you just might protect your brain as you get older. A groundbreaking study reported by the New England Journal of Medicine a few years ago showed that dancing reduced the risk of  various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s, vascular, and mixed types. The researchers attributed this benefit to the finding that dance is not purely physical; it requires a lot of mental effort.
This shed light on the belief that dance is a
mental exercise as well as a physical one.

WHAT IS ZUMBA TONING®? 
Its an exciting, Latin inspired, dance 'n tone program.  This is the original dance-fitness class taken to the next level.  

ZUMBA
 TONING® is an innovative muscle training program with the addition of light weight toning sticks.  We provide the 2 1/2 lb, sand filled toning sticks, which are very similar to maracas.  In a relatively short period of time, this challenging workout helps in building coordination and muscle  endurance.   Now that you've worked on your lower body rhythm, its time to perfect the upper body!  The NEW and exciting Zumba toning program is designed to offer the participant a safe, yet effective total body toning workout! 
 
This class is open to everyone, no previous dance or ZUMBA® class experience necessary. Toning sticks are available for purchase from your instructor for an additional fee.
