The new dance year starts September 14th and runs through May. Our annual recital will be May 22nd at The Macomb Center for the Performing Arts.

Class Styles and Dress Code
Ballet/Tap Combo
A student's first dance class, introducing both ballet and tap. Dancers will alternate styles each week. One style will be used for the recital.
Attire
Pink ballet slippers and tan/caramel
Mary Jane tap shoes
Fitted dance attire with tights.
Hair in a pony tail or bun.
Ballet
Classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.
Ballet is the foundation of all other dance forms.
Attire
Pink ballet slippers
Pre: Fitted dance attire with tights.
Hair in a pony tail or bun.
Level 1 & up: Black leotard and pink tights. Hair in a bun.
Tap
Emphasis on rhythm and coordination. Dancers wear shoes fitted with heel and toe taps to sound out audible beats by rhythmically striking the floor.
Attire
Pre & Lv 1: Tan/caramel Mary Jane tap shoes
Level 2: Black tie tap shoes
(Capezio Tic Tap Toe suggested)
Fitted dance attire with tights.
Hair in a pony tail or bun.
Jazz
Stylized movements and combinations with an emphasis on proper technical execution, extension, control and body placement. Jazz may have many different styles and paces but it is a direct extension of ballet.

Fitted dance attire with tights.
Hair in a pony tail or bun.
Lyrical
A fusion of ballet and jazz, encompassing the use of balance, flexibility and control while utilizing the lyrics or mood of the music. Students should have a strong ballet foundation before performing this style.

Fitted dance attire with tights.

Hip Hop
Street style movements with an emphasis on style, creativity, body isolations and control. Students will work on rhythm and musical interpretation while incorporating athleticism.
Attire
Black high top canvas sneakers w/white soles
(Converse Chuck Taylor suggested)
Fitted dance attire with tights.
Hair in a pony tail or bun.
Pom
Clean/precise arm movements and strong motion technique. This class also incorporates jazz skills and jumps, as students learn to use teamwork for synchronization and visual effect.

Musical Theater
Theatrical style that may combine acting and spoken dialogue, or lip syncing. Jazz sklls are incorporated.
